A mama in need

Hey Mamas! (or even non mamas who care to help)

There is a mama who needs our help. This wonderful woman recently fell on some hard times, and her electricity was shut off. What sucks, is they want a HUGE chunk of change out of her. Pisser is, she has the majority of it, but they won't work with her in the least. They want the whole thing.
Alone, none of us would be able to help get her juice back on, but if we banded together, we could make a difference.
She in no way deserves this crap, she has a full time job, two kiddos, she busts her ass.
She is always willing to help anyone out, and probably has helped some of you who are reading this..
My point is, living without electricity, when you aren't set up to do so (composting toilets, for example) is really hard.
The logistics are staggering. The cost of ice alone to keep your food from growing bacteria can blow a hole straight thru your food budget. Having lived without electricity for a good chunk of time, I can tell you it isn't pretty.

She said she was feeling embarrased, and I tried to explain that I know that feeling, but I took money from people I didn't know when we needed it. 	Yea, it is fucked that they won't take partial payment. I know here they won't either, after March 1 or something (here, anyway, by law, they can't shut you off in the winter.) Thank you! I hope so too! Last I heard she was still short, but a good dent has been made!! YAY! I was hoping that we could get enough to her 5, but I had really high hopes. Maybe when she gets to work tomorrow, there will be enough there, with some extra to replace food and shit. I might set up an eBay auction, if I can get some picutes done tomorrow. i agree. since when is power not a basic need? water heaters so you don't stink? sure boil water...but what if your stove is electric? heat, oh it's past april first, but this month? we had more cold days in it than we had all winter here in western MA. if my heat got turned off, i'd have been living under every blanket i have, with my cat underneath probably scraping my knees to hell with his claws of doom and pouncing punctures! water? yeah, who needs water anyway, no one needs to drink those 8 glasses a day the food pyramid folks tell you to, or shower, or rinse after brushing, or do their dishes. nooo, not a basic need at all! You know how she can be, she holds everything in, and then mentions it all casual like... I'm late on the draw here, as I only just read this! I'm just glad I can help a wee bit, it seems like there are a lot of mums on this forum who could do with help. I've been in this situation in the past, but I've never had the company not take a partial payment if you can set up some sort of agreement. Thank you H! With our old electric company, once you fucked up a payment plan, they never let you do it again. I don't know if that is her case or not. I do know that in some states, they don't even have to give you a payment plan. Either way it sucks for her and her family, and this was the only thing I could think of doing, since we ourselves are cash strapped at the moment, you know?
